A friend in high school, who had suffered the loss of his father at an early age, was awaiting his eighteenth birthday so that he could receive the inheritance left him. It was quite a large sum of money as I recall, and the anticipation produced in us many exciting dreams and grand moments of expectation. Oh, the cars he’d own and the fun we’d have. When finally the day arrived when expectation was met with reality and his inheritance was secured. Unfortunately the riches he held faded away more quickly than his hope.
As those adopted into the family of God we never need to be concerned about the inheritance we will receive for we have the assurance in a living hope. And this living hope comes through in the power of the resurrection. This Easter may you and yours realize the power of the resurrection and all the promises achieved by a living Savior.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 1Peter 1:3-5
