The Poor

I was going through our bathroom cabinet when a bottle that I had never noticed caught my eye. I marveled at the title and wondered if it could do what it promised. The bottle was clear and I carefully surveyed the contents, it didn’t look like much; a clear gel that was to spread on the face. I read the directions just curious about the application and risks of using such a product. I kind of chuckled to myself and thought how wonderful it could be if we could just change the spelling of the words in the title to give it new meaning. The product is “Pore Minimizer”. From my understanding when used correctly it reduces the size of the pores in your face preventing that aging look (that was great comfort as my first thought was it to reduce the number of pores on your face causing you to have a smaller face).
How wonderful it would be if we could just change the ingredients so that they would become “POOR MINIMIZER”. Just the moment you thought your paycheck wouldn’t allow your ends to meet; you could whip out a bottle of Poor Minimizer and reduce your state of poordom. Bills would be paid, collectors would stop calling, joy would return, and of course you would be content. There would be no more destitute individuals, no more hungry souls, no more homeless, etc…
That’s when I realized we do have the promises of “Poor Minimizer’s” .

He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done.
Proverbs 19:17

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.
2Corinthians 8:9

Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?
James 2:5
